Chelsea tegen Leicester City op Wembley
BY CHRIS DINSDALE

May 15, 2021 – The final of England’s FA Cup, the world’s oldest Association Football competition, will be contested by Premier League rivals Chelsea and Leicester City.

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel can secure his first silverware at Stamford Bridge since he joined the London club in January, and the Blues’ ninth FA Cup trophy overall. After easing through the early rounds with wins over Morecambe, Luton, Barnsley and Sheffield United, Chelsea overcame Premier League champions-elect Manchester City in the semi-final to secure their spot at Wembley, courtesy of a Hakim Ziyech winner.

Opponents Leicester City are targeting their very first FA Cup trophy. They have made four previous appearances in the final, but none since 1969, and failed to clinch the silverware each time. The Foxes, who are on course to secure a Champions League berth via their Premier League performance, beat Stoke City in the third round and followed up with victories over Brentford, Brighton and Manchester United. A second-half strike by Kelechi Iheanacho in their semi-final win over Southampton sealed their Wembley berth.

Chelsea and Leicester City have met on 118 previous occasions, with the Blues securing 57 wins to the Foxes’ 27, while 34 matches have ended in a draw.
