Europa League Day 5, Thursday Dec 3

BY CHRIS DINSDALE

December 3, 2020 – The UEFA Europa League continues with key fixtures including Villarreal facing a rematch with tournament debutants Sivasspor — the pair played out an entertaining eight-goal thriller in October, Roma hosting Youngs Boys, and Tottenham Hotspur taking on LASK. The season culminates with the final at the Stadion Energa Gdańsk in Poland on May 26, 2021.

The 2020-21 UEFA Europa League is the 50th season of Europe’s secondary club football tournament. A total of 48 teams from 26 countries will battle for silverware, including three representatives from each of Spain, England, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Four teams, Roma, Arsenal, Leicester City and Hoffenheim, have already secured a place in the knock-out stages.

The winners of the tournament automatically qualify for the 2020-21 Champions League group stage, and earn the right to play against the winners of the 2020-21 Champions League in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup.

Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national league and cup competitions.
